JOB OPPORTUNITY – NLBHA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

(Contractual Full-time April –August/part-time September to March)

Closing date: Friday, March 7, 2025

The NLBHA is seeking an energetic, organized and experienced sports administrator to help lead the game of ball hockey into the future. You will serve as the point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the sport of ball hockey. If you are an exceptional leader with excellent communication skills, and looking for a new challenge, this opportunity is for you!

The Executive Director will be responsible to handle all affairs of the NLBHA, reporting directly to the NLBHA Board of Directors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide the NLBHA with leadership and vision in consultation and with input from the NLBHA Board of Directors
  • Represent the NLBHA locally, provincially and nationally and liaise with all stakeholders involved in the sport of ball hockey including government ministries, member associations, CBHA, SportNL and others.
  • Oversee the implementation of programs, adhere to NLBHA policies and procedures, inform others of risk management procedures, and adhere to all federal and provincial legislative privacy requirements, (PIPEDA).
  • Develop and distribute marketing materials, and manage webpage and social media accounts
  • Coordinate NLBHA events in conjunction with NLBHA Board of Directors including outreach initiatives, evaluation camps, provincial tournaments, national tournaments, and work to secure floor time, fees, forms, scheduling, officiating, travel, etc.
  • Advise members of the CBHA insurance program including processing of claims with the CBHA and collect and maintain accurate insurance records such as certificate of insurance, etc.
  • Establish, update and maintain an accurate NLBHA membership list
  • Record, track and maintain inventory, including uniforms, equipment, awards, trophies, etc.
  • Attend NLBHA and CBHA meetings as required
  • General accounting/financial duties and preparation of written/verbal reports in consultation with NLBHA Board of Directors.
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Sports Administration or related field OR equivalent experience
  • Experienced in office administration, preparing funding applications, written/verbal reports, budgeting and basic bookkeeping
  • General computer skills and experience maintaining social media platforms.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, be willing to travel and work from home
  • Experience in working with volunteer Boards and sport authorities

The Newfoundland and Labrador Ball Hockey Association (NLBHA) is pleased to announce staff position openings for our Adult Provincial Teams  attending the 2025 CBHA National Championships.  We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to lead Team NL as Head Coaches & Assistant Coaches across various categories. (Respect in Sports for Activity Leaders required)  
 
All CBHA National Championships will be in Mississauga, Ontario in 2025.
Available positions listed under each event.

Men’s B – C – D, Women’s B, Men’s U23 and Women’s U23 Championships: July 22–26
U23 Men’s – Head Coach and Assistant Coach

2024 Champions Crowned

2024 Champions Crowned

The 2024 Molson Master’s Recreational Ball Hockey League Championship was decided on Saturday, July 27, 2024 with Island Construction & Environmental LTD. defeating ALT Telecom 2 to 1 in Double Overtime to claim the title.

Scott Drake opened the scoring from taking advantage of a bad bounce off the gate at 5:39 left into the 1st period to take the early lead for ALT Telecom, Marcel LeDrew responded at 1:49 remaining in the 3rd period to set up the eventual Overtime.

It took until the second Overtime [5th period overall] to decide the eventual winner with Marcel Ledrew scoring the winning goal with 7:43 remaining on the clock of the second overtime period.

Congratulation to both teams for making the finals and for Island Construction & Environmental LTD. on winning the Championship.

2024 Provincial Tournaments Timelines, Registration, Team Entry Fees, and Facilities

2024 Provincial Tournament Registration will open on April 10, 2024.

 

2024 NLBHA Provincial Tournaments: June 27 – June 30 

Division 11U Tier I and Tier II (DF Barnes)

Division 13U and 15U (Glacier Arena)

Team Registration and Entry Fee ($600.00) due on or before June 14 (No teams accepted past this date).

Entry Fee Payment to be made via EMT to treasurer@nlbha.cm (no password required). Team name must be included in EMT message.

Team Roster Forms for 11U, 13U, 15U will be provided by NLBHA to teams that register and pay fee by June 14. Please ensure all players are registered and applicable insurance fees ($15.00 per player for all divisions) are paid.

Coaches and Team Staff must register through Online Registration (Participant Form – Volunteers) with the NLBHA prior to coaching or involvement with a team at any NLBHA event or tournament in 2024.

NLBHA Officials will facilitate and officiate each provincial tournament game. There is a facility convenor and NLBHA convenor for each provincial tournament.

2023 Champions Crowned

2023 Champions Crowned

The 2023 Molson Master’s Recreational Ball Hockey League Championship was decided on Friday August 4, 2023 with Colonial Auto Parts defeating ALT Telecom 4 to 1 to claim the title.

Gerald Reid opened the scoring at 6:56 into the 2nd period to take the early lead for Colonial Auto Parts, Andrew Miller at 4:16 and AJ Keating at 2:33, scored to extend the lead to 3-0 to end the second period.

Michael Cooney replied with ALT Telecom’s lone goal at the 4:21 mark of the 3rd period. Michael Murphy scored once more for Colonial Auto Parts at the 2:06 mark of the third period to put the game out of reach for ALT Telecom.

Andrew Miller’s goal held up to be the eventual game winner.

Congratulation to both teams for making the finals and for Colonial Auto Parts on winning the Championship.

The 2022 Molson Master’s Recreational Ball Hockey League Championship was decided on Saturday August 06, 2022 with Island Construction & Environment defeating Colonial Auto Parts 2 to 0 to claim their 3rd title in a row.

Dion White opened the scoring to take the early lead and eventual winner at 1:29 [2nd period] into the game. Jason Voisey provided the insurance goal with 0:56 left to the game. Stephen Squires recorded the shut out for the winners.

Congratulation to both teams for making the finals and for Island Construction & Environment winning the Championship.

2021 Champions Crowned

The 2021 Molson Master’s Recreational Ball Hockey League Championship was decided on Friday August 13, 2021 with Island Construction & Environment defeating Colonial Auto Parts 3 to 2 to claim the title.

Rick Traverse opened the scoring at 3:17 into the game to take the early lead for Island Construction & Environment, Dion White extended the lead to 2-0 at the 14:35 mark of the second period.

Marc Blundon scored at 10:01 to bring Colonial Auto Parts to within 1 however Marcel LeDrew added to the lead for Island Construction & Environment at 6:15 of the second period.

With their season on the line Mike Gambin scored a late goal with :49 seconds left to bring Colonial Auto Parts within 1. Island Construction & Environment goalie Larry Fitzpatrick closed the door and any chance for Colonial Auto Parts from tying the back thus securing the win and the Championship for his team.

Gerald Reid provided two helper for the winners and Marcel LeDrew’s goal held up to be the winner.
