2022 Provincial Championships’ Admission

The 2022 13U and 15U Provincials are happening this weekend from June 23, 2022 through Sunday June 26, 2022 at both the Goulds Arena and Ken Williams Southern Shore Arena.

Admission fees for this weekend’s Provincials will be as follows:


$10.00 for a weekend pass
$5.00 for a day pass

All funds to go toward the NL Select teams travelling to Winnipeg for the Junior National Championships.

The NL Selects has five minor teams (3 male and 2 female) teams preparing for the Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA) Junior National Ball Hockey Championship July 27-31, 2022 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

SportNL Athletic Scholarships Awardees

SportNL Athletic Scholarships Awardees

Sport Newfoundland and Labrador (SportNL) presented the recipients of its Scholarship Awards during their 31st Annual Scholarship Reception, held at the Johnson Geo Centre in St. John’s.
 
Two of our own NLBHA ball hockey players were this year’s recipients. Shae-Lynn Clarke of Bell Island and Alyson Thomas from L’Anse au Clair. 
 
Shae-Lynn recently played in the 2021 CBHA Women’s ‘A’ National Championship in Calgary where she captured player of the game honors. Shae-Lynn has also been selected to play for Canada at the 2022 Women’s World Championships being held in Montreal on June 21-27. Shae-Lynn is completing her Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Academy Canada.
 
Alyson was named to the U20 Girls Junior Ball Hockey Canadian team. She is currently working towards a bachelor of science in nursing at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.
 
Both girls will represent Team NL at the CBHA Women’s ‘A’ National Championship to be held in Hamilton, Ontario in August. 
 
Congratulations to you both on your outstanding achievements.

Team NL Black Horse Senior Men Evaluation and Selection Camp will be held on Saturday June 4, 2022 at DF Barnes Arena.

Session 1: 11:00am – 12:30pm

Session 2: 2:00 pm – 3:30pm

2022 9U Jamboree Events

Location/Date  

Mount Pearl – Saturday June 18, 2022

Placentia – Saturday July 16, 2022

Number of Teams 20 Teams (1-day event) 

Game Length 30 Minutes Running Time (3 minute shifts running time)

Number of Games Three (3) games per each NLBHA registered jamboree team

Team Roster (Minimum)

2 Lines (5 players / A Line B Line Format) 

1 Goaltender

Helmets/Facial Protection All players are required to wear a CSA approved helmet (this includes goaltenders). In minor ball hockey, all players are required to wear full facial protection.

Goaltenders are permitted to wear street hockey goaltender equipment (however, helmets must be CSA approved). 

Sticks Plastic sticks are not permitted.

Shin pads are mandatory in minor ball hockey. Only soft covered shin pads may be worn outside the clothing. All hard covered shin pads with the exception of those specifically designed for ball hockey must be covered by pants or socks. Soccer shin pads are permitted. They must be covered by socks or pants.

The use of gloves is mandatory. Ice hockey, ball hockey or lacrosse gloves is recommended. Gloves must have proper wrist protection and the wrist protection must be closed. Palm-less/fingerless gloves are not permitted.

Other Recommended Equipment include jock, jill and elbow pads.

Jamboree Team Entry Fees$225 per 9U team; plus $10 per player that is not part of a registered NLBHA program. There is an annual (one payment) $10 NLBHA registration fee to participate in NLBHA events.

Team Registration form (https://ballhockeynl.ca/registration/ 9U registration form is found under provincial championships) and Team Entry Fee must be submitted by June 08. For further information regarding team registration and entry fees, please contact the NLBHA Treasurer or VP Minor under ‘governance’ at ballhockeynl.ca . Entry fees will be sent to the NLBHA treasurer at the time of registration. Entry Fee payment is to be made via EMT to treasurer@nlbha.com (no password required). Team name must be included in EMT message.

Team Roster forms will be sent to teams that register by June 08. Team Rosters must be provided to the NLBHA registrar at least three days prior to the start of a 9U jamboree.

NLBHA Officials will facilitate and officiate each jamboree game. There is a facility convener and NLBHA convener for each 9U jamboree.

Coaches must register (https://ballhockeynl.ca/volunteerregistration/) with the NLBHA prior to coaching at any NLBHA event or tournament in 2022.

Senior Women Individual Registration ($40 per player): June 08

Newfoundland and Labrador Ball Hockey Association (minor 15U, 17U, 19U; female 16U, 19U; senior women).

NLBHA provincial selection camp registration will close on May 04.

Team NL Senior Women Tryout Camp

Team NL Senior Women Tryout Camp

Team NL Senior Women will be having two (2) tryout camps prior to team selection.  
 
The first tryout camp will be held on Saturday, April 23 at the Buckmaster Circle Recreation Center.  
Times are as follows: 10:00-11:30 and 5:30-6:30.  
 
The second tryout camp will be held May 20-23. 
Day and times to be determined.
 
All interested players will be required to register prior to May 4 using the following link:
NOTE: This includes participants attending the camp(s) and those who are not able to attend camps due to location.
 
The cost for one (1) camp is $30.  Included in this fee is player insurance for the NLBHA ball hockey season (April 1, 2022 – March 31, 2023).  If a player attends the first camp and decides to attend the second camp the cost would be $20 and this can be paid directly to treasurer@nlbha.com
