NLBHA Announces Community-Based Programs Initiative

The Newfoundland and Labrador Ball Hockey Association (NLBHA) is promoting
registered Community-Based Programs for the 15U, 13U, 11U, and 9U minor age-groups
during the upcoming ball hockey season. Our goal is to continue to grow local ball hockey
within Newfoundland and Labrador.

15U, 13U, 11U and 9U Community-Based Programs
·         Are registered members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Ball Hockey
Association.

·         Play within a defined age group (15U, 13U, 11U and 9U) locally.

·         Participate in organized and sanctioned practices, scrimmages and competition
games.

Community Based Programs (other logistics)
·         Registered community-based programs will receive priority to register in the
NLBHA regional and provincial events during the upcoming ball hockey season.

·         Registered community-based programs can participate in provincial
age-group tournaments using registered players. Registered players with an NLBHA-registered program must participate in provincial (15U, 13U, 11U, and 9U) tournaments
with their registered Community Based Program.

·         NLBHA will provide flexibility for low-populated communities to develop
registered programs within their locality.

·         If a minor ball hockey program does not exist in your community, please contact
the NLBHA to clarify the nearest registered program where a player may
register.

·         Programs and players must participate in an NLBHA-registered program
to qualify for provincial tournaments. Team registration and participation in NLBHA
provincial tournaments are exclusive to registered Community Based players and programs.

·         Only NLBHA-registered programs may participate in NLBHA provincial and
regional events and exhibition games using NLBHA officials.

Other NLBHA Notes
Players who are not part of community-based programs may register with the
NLBHA will individually participate in provincial selection camps. Players selected for
NLBHA provincial teams will participate in age-appropriate community-based programs
as part of a player’s preparation and training for national championships.

If this avenue is not available in a player’s region, other options will be developed between the VP
Minor, provincial coaches, and provincial team players to ensure training and development
continues in the lead-up to CBHA Junior Nationals.
