Women’s A/B Tryout Camp – NL United Women’s Premier “A” and Women’s B 

The 2026 Women’s B National Championship will take place July 14-18, 2026, in Montreal. 

The 2026 Women’s Premier ‘A’ National Championship will take place August 10-15, 2026, in Calgary.

COST: 

$60 via EMT to:  femaleballhockey@gmail.com   

Registration will not be complete until payment is received. 

Please indicate in your EMT message which team(s) you are trying out for. 

  • Women’s Premier “A” 
  • Women’s B 
  • Both 

IMPORTANT: 

  1. Any player who played in Women’s A last year is not eligible to play Women’s B this year. 
  2. You can play both Women’s A and Women’s B this year if you never played Women’s A last year. 

LOCATION

All tryout sessions will take place at Buckmaster’s Circle Recreation Center. 

DATES

Monday, April 20, 6:30-8:30 pm

Tuesday, April 21, 6:30-8:30 pm

Tryout 3 – May 9, 12:00-2:00 pm

EXEMPTIONS

Any player unable to attend the tryout sessions may apply for an exemption. Please state the reason for the exemption request. (ie. out of province for school, location and travel, injury, etc.)  This too should be sent to femaleballhockey@gmail.com. IMPORTANT: All interested players must register on or before April 15.

We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to lead Team NL as Head Coaches & Assistant Coaches across various categories. Join us in representing Newfoundland and Labrador on the National stage! Coaches will be REQUIRED to attend the Provincial Tryout Camp, Coaches Seminar (May 1-2), and the full dates of the event (Depart July 20 – Return July 25 or 26).

Applications Now Being Accepted for the Athletic Excellence Fund

Applications Now Being Accepted for the Athletic Excellence Fund

The Newfoundland and Labrador Ball Hockey Association is pleased to share that the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, and Recreation is now accepting applications for the 2026 Athletic Excellence Fund.

This fund provides financial support to athletes to help offset training and competition costs. Funding is available through the Premier’s Athletic Awards, Team Gushue Awards, Michelle Healey Memorial Award, Elite Athlete Assistance Program, and the Sport NL Scholarship Program.

Applicants must be members in good standing with the NLBHA.

Deadline: March 11, 2026
Applications must be submitted to the NLBHA by this date. Late applications will not be accepted.

Please review the application form and guidelines on the Department’s website.

The Canadian Junior National Ball Hockey Championships will be held in Saint John, New Brunswick,
from July 21 to July 25, 2026. 


NLBHA NL Selects Provincial Teams will be having camps for the following divisions:
15U Boys (Born 2011 / 2012)
17U Boys (Born 2009 / 2010)
19U Boys (Born 2007 / 2008)
15U Girls (Born 2011 / 2012)
17U Girls (Born 2009 / 2010)
19U Girls (Born 2007 / 2008)

NOTE: Anyone interested in trying out for NLBHA NL Selects Provincial Teams must register between February 1, 2026 – April 19, 2026.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Ball Hockey Association (NLBHA) is pleased to announce our final Referee Certification/Recertification Clinics of the season:

Wednesday June 4

Time: 5:30pm
Location: Glendenning Golf Course.

Sanctioned Leagues

Sanctioning in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL) involves ensuring that sporting events and activities adhere to established rules, regulations, and safety standards, promoting a safe and equitable environment for all participants. Key aspects include adhering to provincial/territorial rules, utilizing appropriate facilities and equipment, and ensuring proper officiating. It also involves preventing maltreatment and fostering a respectful and inclusive atmosphere. 

Key Aspects of Sanctioned Sports in NL:

  • Adherence to Rules and Regulations:
    Sanctioned events must follow the rules set by governing bodies like Sport NL and provincial/territorial branches of national sports organizations.
     
    Safe and Equitable Environment:
    Sanctioning ensures a safe and equitable environment for all participants, regardless of age, gender, or ability. This includes implementing measures to prevent and address maltreatment, as outlined in the Universal Code of Conduct.
     
    Proper Facilities and Equipment:
    Sanctioned events must be held in suitable facilities and utilize appropriate equipment as per relevant rules.
     
    Qualified Officiating:
    Competitions require appropriately qualified and certified officials.
     
    Sanctioning Guidelines:

    Provincial and territorial organizations have specific guidelines for sanctioning events, including requirements for applications and adherence to rules.

     
    Safe Sport Practices:
    Implementing measures to promote safe sport practices, including background screening, ethics training, and the Rule of Two.
     
    Responsible Coaching Movement:

    Promoting responsible coaching practices through training and resources, focusing on areas like ethics, respect, and background screening.

     
    Addressing Maltreatment:

    Providing a system for addressing complaints of maltreatment, with an independent third-party overseeing cases.

     
    Support for Grassroots Activities:
    Supporting grassroots sport participation and ensuring accessibility for all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, especially in less-serviced areas.
     
    Promoting Excellence:
    Integrating with Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) to help participants achieve their long-term goals in sport. Eligibility for awards such as Premier’s Athletic Awards, Sport NL Awards, etc.
