NLBHA Members Nominated for SportNL Awards

Each Year Sport Newfoundland and Labrador recognizes sporting accomplishments and contributions through the Annual Awards Program. NLBHA has two nominees for awards to be given out for the 2024 season at the SportNL Annual Awards night on April 12, 2025. 


Junior Male Athlete of the Year (Joseph P. Mullins Memorial Award) – Liam Noble

Liam represented his country at the 2024 U18 Men’s World Championship. He led Team Canada in scoring with 10 points in 6 games and won MVP of the tournament after the team’s 5-1 over the United States in the Championship Game. 

After winning the gold medal at World’s, Liam then travelled to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with the U19 NL Selects for the 2024 CBHA Nationals. The team won a silver medal, and Liam recorded another 10 points in 6 games, including a hat trick in the semi-finals. He earned a spot on the tournament All-Star team. 


Senior Female Team of the Year – Girls 20U NL Selects

The Girls 20U NL Selects won the National Championship at the 2024 CBHA Nationals in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They were 6-0-0 in the tournament, finishing with a 2-0 win over Team BC in the Championship Game. It was the team’s third consecutive National Title, in which they were undefeated over the three years, earning a combined record of 16-0-3. 

Members of the team were: Maddax Penner, Heidi Newbury, Brooke Hipditch, Shayla Saunders, Jenni Simpson, Cassie Drover, Molly Gill, Kendra Hipditch, Maggie Jones, Julia Butler, Avery Battcock, Haley Ryan, Allie Spencer, Rachel Hardy, Beth Edmunds, Paige Noble, Jayme Guy, Grace Goodyear, Brooklyn Kitchen, Abigail Fleet, Tracy Hayley (Manager), Mike Hipditch (Coach), Shannon Fahey (Coach), and Bailey Cox (Trainer).
